| I'm In! I'm on the Dream Squad! |
[Jun. 28th, 2008|12:01 am] |
|
Well, I got that job I interviewed for last Tuesday. I found out on Wednesday but wasn't able to post it here because of not getting home from choir practice every Wed/Thur until 11pm and wanting sleep more than wanting to wait the 10 minutes it takes for my computer to be ready to function. BUT even though I've been accepted, they have no place to put me, so I'm stuck in the "Pool" until a position becomes available. Some people I've talked to said they were immedately placed to a park (like my co-worker Charles who also made it this week), and others said it took days, weeks, months for them to be called. I PRAY it doesn't take long for me to be contacted, because this role ends offically on December 31st, 2008. It was supposed to end 12/31/07 but the company decided to extend the "Year of a Million Dreams," so I am lucky that I'm even being considered at all. |

| Wow, I haven't posted in a while. |
[Jun. 24th, 2008|10:33 am] |
I can't believe I haven't posted anything about my puppy in over a month. Well, we've been together 36 days now and she's just so easily fit into my life, I can't believe I didn't have her sooner. She is truly the dog God meant for me to raise. Anyways, here are a few pictures:
Day 1 Day 13 Day 26 Day 35

In other things, I have decided to leave my department sometime this year. It is a really difficult decision because right now, I have the days off I want, which includes Sunday, and also if I move to a different department, I might lose my current pay, which is horrible because I have a mortgage. But there are so many positions in Disney, I shouldn't have a problem finding something to go to. I interviewed for a new position last Tuesday and am waiting to hear back. It was for the Dream Squad, a role that HUNDREDS of people applied for, but I am hopeful because the manager for that department at my park was really treating me nicely on Friday and asking me questions about myself. I applied for this position back in February and didn't make it then, so I'm prepared to not make it again, but if I don't make it here, I'm applying for Guest Relations next. I like being with the Guests. |

| Dream a Little Dream |
[Jun. 3rd, 2008|09:41 am] |
|
Again, I don't remember much of my dream, accept I know there was a celebration going on and I was back stage at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I remember the most scary point of my dream was when a big bull elephant was trying to attack and stomp on a baby elephant who didn't realize it was in danger. The baby was just wanting to be near him, and here he was trying to kill it. I remember a keeper running out to grab the baby and pull it away, putting her own life in danger to save the baby. |

| Video of Iana |
[May. 20th, 2008|07:51 pm] |
</div> Ee-ah-nah is how to pronounce her name, in case anyone was wondering. In the videos, of course, she didn't know her name, but I think she's getting it now. She's also never had to wear a collar before, so she likes to try to scratch it off. She's getting better hour by hour. We've been together for about 5 hours now. And she's currently asleep on my bedroom floor.

| Lady Iana Didymus of Knightsbridge Court |
[May. 20th, 2008|02:15 pm] |
Or Iana for short. Here she is, from when I picked her up this morning:

Not really sure if she is full Westie yet, because she has red in her fur, and her ears are shaped differently. But she is definately MORE Westie than anything else. She is amazingly cute. But she was VERY dirty. So I left her at Petco to be groomed and I am going to grab her in an hour. |

| Everything looks great! |
[May. 19th, 2008|09:37 pm] |
So I am meeting the owner at the vet tomorrow to pick up my puppy, that way I get the bill of health in person. She was totally up for me meeting her there!
Now, this picture was taken two weeks ago, but the one on the left is going to be my new baby:

| Giving a second chance |
[May. 19th, 2008|07:41 pm] |
So the owner of that puppy went shopping for a birthday gift, and she left her cell phone on the shelf in the store, thus making her unable to answer my calls. So tomorrow I'm going back, but hopefully first she'll send me pictures of the puppy. I have a prospective puppy 2 hours away that's a Westie breed, but she doesn't exactly look like other westie puppies...
So I hope the one from here in town really does work out. Even if she doesn't have papers, I want a Westie. |

| Infruiated, pissed off, and heart broken |
[May. 18th, 2008|06:17 pm] |
|
I spoke with the owner of the Westie puppy on Friday, we agreed to meet this afternoon, I said around 2 or 3pm because my church was having a picnic. The owner said that time would be fine because she goes to church too. Well, our church picnic was over at 12:30pm today, so I called the owner then and she told me she had a birthday party for a nephew to go to and that she was expecting me between 3pm and 4pm, but that I could call her when I get in the area and she maybe able to pull herself away. I had asked my friend's aunt to go along with me to get her opinion of the dog, so I thought to give the owner some time, we would go to a mall out in that area. 2:30pm, I called the owner's cell phone (the only number she gave me), no response. I leave a message. We go driving to see if we can find the place, find it at 2:50pm, still no answer on the cell phone. We find another store to hang out at, STILL by 4:30pm, half an hour after this supposed birthday party was to have ended, the owner is not at her house. I can hear the dogs barking inside but no way to even see what they look like.
I am so mad. I was so heart set on getting the puppy today, a new member of my family.
But on the way home we see a girl on the side of the rode with no gas and we took her to the gas station and then back to her car. She said she had been on the side of the road for an hour, calling people she knew, her work, and no one would come out to help her. Her own mother even hung up on her while we were there helping her. It was like no one but us strangers cared that she was stuck out on a not frequently used street in the hot sun, late for work.
So for me, I'd like to think God's hand was in all of this. Maybe we were sent all the way out to where the dog lived so that we would be on the right path to help that girl. I hope.
But now I have to find a new avenue to locate a puppy. |

| And the winner is... |
[May. 15th, 2008|06:02 pm] |
|
With a vote of 12 to 2 (I texted friends and family as well), the winner is: Westie!
And I found a lady with a 9 week old litter just 30 minutes from me who has a girl in the bunch. I'm going to meet them on Sunday afternoon to see if we are a match.
Uncertaintees: 1. Owner says they haven't had shots yet 2. Owner doesn't know how to get papers to prove it's pure breed (as this is her first litter).
BUT: 1. It is a girl; only boys are available everywhere else 2. She is asking for $300, which isn't bad. 3. I don't have to buy a plane ticket or spend gobs of gas to go get her!
So, please be praying for me in this endevour. |

[May. 13th, 2008|10:47 pm] |
But I'd like feedback from my friends on what type I should get. Things aren't like they were 17 years ago when my family got the dog I 'grew up' with, when we got her for $35, a Lhasa Apso/ Border Terrier Mix. If cloning wasn't against my beliefs, I would so want Cindy Lu cloned. She is my mom's dog, definately, but she is very much a part of the family. My sister and I teased that Cindy is our older sister (because in dog years, she's the oldest).

But I have been researching for over a year now on what dog to get myself, and I am still no closer to having one. #1. It seems that now adays there is no such thing as a mutt. A mixed breed like Cindy is now in the $500 range and is considered a 'hybrid' or 'designer' dog. #2. Places push to 'rescue' a dog, but even then you pay $200 for the dog, and you might not even get a puppy. I don't want someone else's dog; it's sad that dogs are put in shelters (and that some don't come out), but I want my dog to be my dog, raise by me, knowing my temporment and way of life. So, I'm going to fork out up to $1000 to get the dog I want.
So, now, it's a matter of deciding what to get. I'm not against mixes, I just want something under 25 lbs and that doesn't shed. These are what I've narrowed down to after a year of researching:
Miniature Schnauzer: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/miniatureschnauzer.htm West Highland Terrier: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/westhighland.htm
Which should I get? A Westie or Schnauzer?
P.S. Sorry for having to repost this, but the 'poll' I had put up wouldn't format properly. |

| My sister is awesome |
[Apr. 19th, 2008|09:16 pm] |
So I called my sister tonight and instead of letting me talk to her, she said, "Here, someone wants to say hi." So I hear this voice, "Hi, it's Ian from the Elders" and I just smiled from ear to ear. He talked to me for about 2 minutes about the weather in Florida compared to Kansas City and then he asked me when I was going to come home. I said I don't think I'll go home this year because flights are too expensive and he said that's what credit cards are for. Anyway, I don't know HOW yet that my sister got the lead singer of one of my favorite bands to talk to me, but I'm sure it's a great story. Ian, by the way, is the only Irish person in the band.

| I love my job! |
[Mar. 18th, 2008|11:54 pm] |
[Error: close lj-embed tag without open tag] I just spent about an hour with some Canadian tourists staying below me, talking to them about Walt Disney World and sharing my tips and Disney expertize. They loved it, and I was overjoyed to tell them about what I love. I am a Dream Maker.
I can't believe that I get to work at this wonderful place. Even today, when I was training new Cast Members to learn their role in my department, I heard the bands marching down Main Street (there were 3 high school bands today..3!), I was so excited to see each of them. And when the "Share a Dream Come True" parade began and I saw the Pinocchio float, I had tears in my eyes (luckily hidden by my sunglasses). I am so blessed to be a part of a place that strives to make people happy. |

| I gave in....I'm a traitor |
[Mar. 17th, 2008|11:47 am] |
I bought an annual pass to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure so I can hang out more with my friends Amanda and Brian. It is $17 a month...so when a day ticket is $82 for two parks, that is definately a bargin.
Also, my roommate is moving in as I am typing this. She is amazingly sweet, so I hope it works out. She doesn't know how long she'll actually stay, but at least I can tell she is responsible right off the bat. |

I have a roommate! I haven't had a roommate since the first week in February, but a girl named Heidi who works at Animal Kingdom with the primates just confirmed that she will move in with me on Monday. Defiantely an answer to prayer. |

[Feb. 26th, 2008|12:22 pm] |

This time last year I was signing papers and moving into my condo. I can't believe I have survived a whole year, and am debt free! Praise God.
But now that I don't have a roommate, I have to be mindful of what I spend until I get someone new. |

I've never done a Meme before, but when I saw this one from mcfly85 I just had to do it.
1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies. 2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie. 3. Post them here for everyone to guess. 4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed. 5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. So, have at it, and good luck my friends.
